Either you achieve your goals or you learn

On my way back home after giving my last B. Com exam, I had no clue that I was about to be greeted by the biggest surprise of my life. I still remember the moment when the congratulatory mail from IIM Udaipur popped-up on my phone. Yes, a 20-year-old boy from a middle-class family was invited onboard the ship of a transformational journey along with 260 of the country’s finest.

I played professional cricket for ten years before coming to IIMU. All I can remember is being on the cricket pitch for long hours, practicing hard to chase my dream of playing for the Indian cricket team.

My goal has always been to give my best that comes my way and to succeed wherever I can. The competitive animal in me keeps on telling me to push my limits and strive to do more. All my life I have believed in the ideology of “either you achieve your goals or you learn”. Before achieving the objective of getting into an IIM, I learned a lot about failures from cricket, but I have always pushed myself to keep accepting the challenges that come my way. Being a part of a B-school of such a stature, I look forward to implementing all my learnings from cricket and grow and transform myself on this journey.

#HumansofBalicha is a medium for sharing inspiring stories of the members within the IIM Udaipur community. The initiative aims to reflect on qualities which encourage people to aspire, to pursue and to achieve.
