The World Travel and Tourism Council India Initiative (WTTCII), Federation of Associations in Indian Tourism and Hospitality and Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) predict that in the months of April, May and June 2020,

  • 70% of the workforce in the tourism sector will be jobless
  • Hotel occupancy to be dropped by 45%
  • Airlines to fly at 25-30% of current capacity
  • The industry will take up to 10 months to recover
  • Occupancy in the branded hotels is estimated to decline by 16.7% to 20.5%
  • Revenue per available room will witness a significant decline of 31% to 36.2%
