PGP Admission Policy for Overseas Candidates 2017

PGP Admission Policy for Overseas Candidates 2017

Definition of Overseas Candidates

An overseas candidate is any Indian or foreign national working or studying or residing outside India with a valid passport or travel documents and not in a position to take the Common Admission Test (CAT) conducted by the Indian Institutes of Management. An overseas candidate who is expected to be in India during the testing window period for CAT 2016 will not be eligible to apply under the overseas category. Candidates residing in neighboring countries like Nepal from which there are no restrictions for travel to India, are not considered as "Overseas Candidates".

  • The candidate must hold a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent qualification (at least a three year program), with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA, awarded by any of the Universities incorporated by an act of the central or state legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification recognized by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India. For candidates holding foreign degrees, the equivalence of the foreign degree needs to be certified by the Association of Indian Universities.

The percentage of marks obtained by the candidate in the bachelor's degree would be calculated based on the practice followed by the university/institution from which the candidate obtained the degree. In cases where the candidates are awarded grades/CGPA instead of marks, the conversion of grades/CGPA to equivalent marks would be based on the procedure certified by the university/ institution from which they have obtained the bachelor's degree. If the university/institution does not have any scheme for converting CGPA into equivalent marks, the equivalence would be established by dividing the candidate's CGPA by the maximum possible CGPA and multiplying the result by 100.

Candidates appearing for the final year of bachelor's degree/equivalent qualification examinations and those who have completed degree requirements and are awaiting results can also apply. If selected, such candidates will be allowed to join the program provisionally, only if he/she submits a certificate at the time of joining from the Principal/Registrar of his/her College/Institute stating that the candidate has completed all the requirements for obtaining bachelor's degree/equivalent qualification on the date of the issue of the certificate. The deadline for submission of the mark-sheet and the certificate is December 31, 2017. Non-fulfillment of this condition will automatically result in the cancellation of the provisional admission.

  • The candidate must have a valid GMAT score.
  • AWA/TOEFL score, if the language of instruction during undergraduate education has not been English.
