Academic council is the vital organ of the Indian Institute of Management Udaipur. This council's main purpose is to ensure that the best academic education is provided to the students. It constantly looks at the latest changes that are coming up in the management field and tries to incorporate these changes into the curriculum so that the students are industry ready. It also plays an important role in guiding the students in choosing their electives and counseling them with the electives and workshops keeping every student's aspiration in view. Academic Council is an interface between the students and the college management and the faculties so as to address the issues that the students face and fill the gap between them. Academic Council plays a vital role in arranging sessions for the students in order to help them cope up with their studies and is ever ready to guide students to overcome their problems pertaining to education.

Academic Council is to monitor the academic affairs of the institute and to review and make recommendations pertaining to the Post Graduate Programme to the PGP Administration. Academic Council also helps students to realize their educational aspirations through any means possible.
