Finomina

Finomina, the Finance club of Indian Institute of Management Udaipur strives to be the foremost finance club amongst all B-schools in the country. The core ideology of the Club is to nurture interest and create awareness among students about the different domains of the financial services industry. The club's activities cover domains ranging from investment banking, equity research and corporate finance to retail banking and micro finance. Finomina aims to promote student-industry interaction by organizing knowledge sessions with reputed names from within the industry as well as academicians from various other IIMs. In addition to it, the club endeavours to comprehend and analyse economic reports published by several behemoths like Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs etc. The Club's quarterly magazine 'Arthaarth' probes and publishes articles on current financial and economic environment. The magazine is circulated to the entire premier B-School community as well as several corporate institutions. The club also organizes 'Arth-Samvaad', the annual finance symposium of IIM Udaipur.

Activities
Arthaarth –

Arthaarth, the finance magazine of Finomina, aims at covering significant events and trends in the world of finance, along with the club member's analysis, and views from experts in the field. As of January 2014, 5 issues of Arthaarth have been published.

The club is also active in conducting tutorials named Arth-Gyaan, for any particular subject in finance that the students find tough or feel they do not have enough clarity on. So far we have had 5 tutorial sessions covering subjects like Accounting, Corporate Finance and Valuation.

Fin-Talks –

Finomina conducts a guest-talk series at regular intervals. The first interaction was with the esteemed Prof.Aswath Damodaran, known as the ""guru"" of Corporate Finance & Valuation the world over, from Stern University. The topic was Valuation. Subsequent Fin-talk sessions were taken by the following industry stalwarts:
• Mr. Ramesh Venkat - CEO, Reliance Private Equity
• Mr. Afzal Modak - CFO, GE India
• Mr. Ramesh Srinivasan - Director and Member of the Board, Kotak Investment Bank
• Mr. Ashish Chauhan - CEO & MD, Bombay Stock Exchange

Bloomberg Trading Lab?

at IIM Udaipur is also maintained by FINOMINA and the club endeavours to maximize its utility for all the students and organizes training sessions in pursuance of the same. Mr.Nilesh Naik from L&T Investments has been mentoring in this regard with training on the terminals and projects. Tie-ups with companies in the finance industry for better utilization of our Bloomberg lab is on the cards.

Events
Arth-Samvaad-

Finomina in association with LIC and Union Bank of India hosted the 3rd edition of Arth-Samvaad, the Finance symposium of IIM Udaipur on January 24th, 2015. Arth-Samvaad was organized to promote industry interaction by inviting leaders in the world of finance to discuss relevant issues concerning the industry today. A multitude of inter-college competitions was conducted under the banner of VittSangram, which witnessed participation from more than 50 b-schools across India. The umbrella theme for the event was 'Rethink' and the panel discussion was held on the topic 'Decades of Financial Folly: Will it be different this time?'. A workshop was conducted by Mr V.S.Sundaresan, Chief General Manager, SEBI on the regulatory aspects of Mergers & Acquisitions. Another addition to this edition of Arth-Samvaad was the final event, FaceOff, in which a student panel took on Mr. V.S.Sundaresan on the topic 'Regulations in Free Market Economy'.

Under the banner of VittSangram, Finomina conducted online quizzes and article-writing competition as a prelude to the symposium.
Open-Outcry-
Open-Outcry was another successful event, which was intra-institute and provided an excellent platform to understand the basics of commodities trading, through the simulation of an "on-the-floor", OTC stock exchange.

Cash-Flow Competition-
Finomina conducted an intra-college competition based on Cash-Flow calculation to encourage the students in learning finance.
