Doctor, MBA Student, Entrepreneur

Peeyoosh Maharana is a second year PGP student at IIM Udaipur with an unusual profile. An MBBS graduate from Gandhi Medical College, he worked as a medical doctor for over three years before deciding to pursue an MBA.

While at IIM Udaipur he has co-founded a new start-up called Bodhi Tree which harnesses electricity through solar panels to provide free charging for mobile phones and laptops. The project was showcased at the ‘Innovation Tank’ held at IIT Bombay in June.  It was adjudged one of the top 30 start-up ideas in the University Challenge which had participants from across India.

Peeyoosh took advantage of the vibrant support that IIMU provides for aspiring entrepreneurs.  He worked on the project during his two month summer internship and received incubation and mentoring from IIMU’s new Incubation Center.

Bodhi Tree is just the auspicious first step in Peeyoosh’s entrepreneurial journey.  After graduation, he intends to pursue entrepreneurial opportunities in the healthcare sector to address the demand for affordable healthcare in tier-1 and tier-2 cities.
