PGP Admission Policy for International Applicants 2018

Background

Students who graduate from IIM Udaipur's two-year, full-time, residential Post Graduate Programme (PGP) receive an MBA degree. The PGP lasts six trimesters, spread over two years, with a summer internship between the two years.

The Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) awarded by IIMs is highly sought after qualification and is well recognized in India as well as abroad. Some of the distinguished alumni of IIMs include Dr. Raghuram Rajan (Former Reserve Bank Governor), Piyush Gupta (Development Bank of Singapore 'DBS' CEO), Indra Nooyi (CEO Pepsi) etc.

Definition of International Applicant

At IIMU, the International status of a candidate is determined on the basis of his/her residency and not nationality. An International applicant is any Indian or foreign passport holder who is:

  • Working or studying or residing outside India with a valid passport or travel documents for at least 18 months in the preceding three years (1 January 2016 to 31 December 2018).
  • Not in a position to take the domestic entrance examination for admissions to IIMs viz. the Common Admission Test (CAT) conducted by the Indian Institutes of Managements
  • For avoidance of any doubt, any candidate whether holding Indian or Foreign passport, who is in India on the day CAT 2018 will be conducted will NOT be eligible to apply under the International Applicant category. The CAT 2018 will be held on November 25, 2018.
Eligibility
  • The candidate must hold a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent qualification (at least a three-year program), with at least 50% marks or equivalent Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) which is also referred to as Grade Point Average (GPA) in some cases, awarded by a University/College/Institute of Higher Learning/Tertiary Institute in India or abroad. For candidates holding foreign degrees, the equivalence of the foreign degree needs to be certified by the Association of Indian Universities.

The percentage of marks obtained by the candidate in the bachelor's degree would be calculated based on the practice followed by the university/institution from which the candidate obtained the degree. If the university/institution does not have any scheme for converting CGPA into equivalent marks, the equivalence would be established by dividing the candidate's CGPA by the maximum possible CGPA and multiplying the result by 100.

Candidates appearing for the final year of bachelor's degree/equivalent qualification examinations and those who have completed degree requirements and are awaiting results can also apply. If selected, such candidates will be allowed to join the program provisionally, only if he/she submits a certificate at the time of joining from the Principal/Registrar of his/her University/College/Institute stating that the candidate has completed all the requirements for obtaining bachelor's degree/equivalent qualification on the date of the issue of the certificate. The deadline for submission of the mark-sheet and the certificate is December 31, 2018. Non-fulfillment of this condition will automatically result in the cancellation of the provisional admission.

  • The candidate must have a valid GMAT/GRE score (not older than 5 years as on May 15, 2019).
  • Candidates must submit IELTS/TOEFL score, if the language of instruction during undergraduate education was NOT English.
